چکیده

Plane-wave DOA estimation techniques yield biased estimates of source bearing angles in the ocean due to the multimode nature of acoustic propagation in an oceanic waveguide. Bearing estimation using matched 5eld processing requires either a computationally expensive three-dimensional search or a priori knowledge of the source ranges and depths. A new subspace-based high-resolution bearing estimation technique which does not have any of these drawbacks is presented in this paper. ? 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Narrowband signal detection techniques in shallow ocean by acoustic vector sensor array

This paper presents the formulation and performance analysis of four techniques for detection of a narrowband acoustic source in a shallow range-independent ocean using an acoustic vector sensor (AVS) array. The array signal vector is not known due to the unknown location of the source. Hence all detectors are based on a generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT) which involves estimation of the ...

Robust Bearing Estimation in Shallow Water Using Vector Optimization

Correlated multi-paths may cause a biased bearing estimation in shallow water, so most existing methods make fully use of the multi-path nature and the underwater channel property to provide an unbiased bearing estimation. However, an imprecise knowledge of the underwater channel parameters or the array model mismatches will cause performance degradation, especially for the high-resolution meth...

Acoustic correlated sources direction finding in the presence of unknown spatial correlation noise

In this paper, a new method is proposed for DOA estimation of correlated acoustic signals, in the presence of unknown spatial correlation noise. By generating a matrix from the signal subspace with the Hankel-SVD method, the correlated resource information is extracted from each eigen-vector. Then a joint-diagonalization  structure is constructed of the signal subspace and basis it, independent...

Three Dimensional Localization of an Unknown Target Using Two Heterogeneous Sensors

Heterogeneous wireless sensor networks consist of some different types of sensor nodes deployed in a particular area. Different sensor types can measure different quantity of a source and using the combination of different measurement techniques, the minimum number of necessary sensors is reduced in localization problems. In this paper, we focus on the single source localization in a heterogene...

Studies on underwater acoustic vector sensor for passive estimation of direction of arrival of radiating acoustic signal

A passive underwater surveillance system performs the function of detection and localisation by utilising the acoustic emissions from the source, whilst itself remaining concealed. The conventional technique employs an array of hydrophones (measure the scalar pressure), wherein the size of the array is dependent on the desired angular resolution and the wavelength of the signal to be monitored....
